Research into the working conditions in the creative industries has outlined the highly ambivalent employment patterns – oscillating between ‘privilege and precarisation’– prevalent in the sector. But how do self-employed workers in the sector manage to reconcile the often conflicting requirements of their jobs? Informal networks and forms of cooperation, for example, are vital for one-person businesses. The specific benefits and drawbacks of individual networking practices, however, often remain unclear. The project thus aims to provide a detailed analysis of helpful practices and coping strategies and, in a second step, to develop suitable support instruments. By cooperating with a Vienna-based network of enterprises in the creative industries the project will be able both to integrate of the needs of creative workers and to ensure that the research findings can be applied in practice. |
